Should Barkiet System or Protektor Natura be used for maintenance of a varnished Barlinek floorboard?
Protektor Natura is used for oiled floors. A varnished floorboard requires an agent from the Barkiet System called PROTEKTOR concentrate, PROTEKTOR Shine or PROTEKTOR Komplet.
When gluing a three-layered floorboard can I varnish the whole surface? I basically mean safeguarding against water getting into the crevices between the floorboards when mopping.
Do not clean floors with a mop. I warn you. Varnishing will not help because varnish is not water-tight and does not protect against moisture. In no event must water be left on the floor after cleaning. For protecting a floor I'd use anti-adhesive agents, which lower the surface tension of the varnish.
Is oiling necessary immediately after laying a floor of oiled oak boards? These floorboards are oiled in the factory. If necessary, then what materials should be used and how do I do it myself?
It's not necessary, but it is highly recommended. It's best to do it using maintenance oil from Barlinek S.A.'s range. This is more maintenance than post-factory oiling. But you have to realise that with time oil oxidises, so even if the floor is never walked on it still becomes less and less protected. Caring for it with oil allows a high concentration of oil to be maintained in the wood.
We recently bought a used flat which had Barlinek floorboards fitted. There had been a dog in the flat, so the floor was slightly damaged. Please could you tell me how to renew it? Will it require scraping down?
It will need scraping down, so please consult a parquet layer.
Three years after installing in our sunny room we have a big difference in colour in the places where there were rugs. Is there a way to even out these differences fairly quickly?
Remove the rug. This is not a long-term process, but will last at least 2 or 3 months
